Bangladesh on Friday (20) allocated Tk 2 billion (£20 million) to health ministry in order to equip it to fight the outbreak of COVID-19.

The health ministry was previously allocated Tk 0.5 billion (£5 million) for this purpose.

The additional fund is to take necessary measures to contain the spread of coronavirus in the country and to treat patients.

Bangladesh has so far reported 20 coronavirus cases and one death. The country said that three persons have recovered.

The finance ministry informed the health ministry about the allocation of additional funds.

Earlier on Wednesday, Health Minister Zahid Maleque informed Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal about the need for additional funds to combat the spread of coronavirus.
