British Asian dancer gets through to the semi final of national dance competition
A STREET dancer who tapped his way into the semi finals of a national dance competition will be performing live for a place in the final.
Dharmesh Patel, known as 'Dharmz' is part of street crew, Plague, who are the current World Hip Hop Champions. But entered Sky 1's Got To Dance compaititon as a soloist to pursue his real passion – tap dancing.
The 24-year-old form Leicester imressed celebrity juges Ashley Banjo, leader of the dance troupe Diversity, Kimberly Wyatt, former member of the R&B girl group Pussycat Dolls and Adam Garcia, actor and tap dancer, to get through the semi final.
Garcia said of his audition: “You are thoroughly entertaining, the tricks, the splits, the on the toe stuff, that was insane - I’m nicking it.”
Dharmz has been dancing since the age of eight having been trained in styles including ballet, contemporary, tap and jazz.
The semi final will take place this Sunday (24) shown shown live on Sky 1 and those who want to support Dharmz can do so by voting for him on the day.
